Finding the perfect vacation rental can be a challenge, especially when considering accessibility needs. Arkansas, with its stunning natural beauty and charming small towns, is a wonderful destination for travelers of all abilities.
Our state is slowly growing in accessible vacation rentals and I have two gorgeous places to show you today!
1. Historic B&B in Cotter near the White River- Room 101
The Commercial Hotel- built in 1903 has 12 separate rooms with room 101 being a fully wheelchair accessible room!

Potter Block amenities for Room 101 and shared spaces
- Private bedroom
- Private attached bathroom
- Wheelchair accessible
- Adjustable bed
- Roll-in shower
- Other items to make accessibility easier
- Dedicated parking out front that allows all ground floor easy access
- Breakfast is continental self-serve items
- Front enclosed interior porch sitting area
- Large shared common lounge area with tables, couches & chairs

A note from the owners: “This is the oldest standing building in Cotter and is over 120 years old. You will find some floors that squeak and are crooked and it’s all part of the history and charm. The full renovation included lots of work, but some things had to be accepted with the renovation. We think it adds to the charm and shows the history, and if we were over 120 years old, we’d be crooked too!”

About Cotter, Arkansas: A railroad boom town that sprang up in the early 20th century, Cotter was once the largest town in North Arkansas. Today it is a well-known river town offering excellent trout fishing amid incredible scenery. The clear cold waters flowing along the banks of Cotter attract anglers in search of trophy trout. Fly fishermen, spin casters, experts and novices visit from around the world to cast into the White River for rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout. The town bills itself as the “Trout Capital of the USA.” Hiking, shopping, festivals, canoeing, and kayaking are other popular pastimes. Cotter’s historic downtown area contains restored buildings, gift and antique shops. The city has 31 historical markers on its buildings and landmarks. –source

In addition to the sparkling water, another visible charm is the R. M. Ruthven Rainbow Arch Bridge, originally dedicated in 1930 and renovated in 2004. The largest Marsh Rainbow Arch Bridge known to exist today, it is on the National Register of Historic Places. –source
