Bethlehem Road in Lonoke
Bethlehem Road in Lonoke does their drive-thru Christmas light display a little different. It’s not all about lit up fire trucks and animated reindeer. You won’t find Santa as the main event here either.
“The Christmas Road to Bethlehem is a 2.5-mile display of scenes and posted readable Scriptures that depict the Christmas story. The display ends with a Nativity scene at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 2540 Bethlehem Road.” -source
Many people in this part of Arkansas drive down Bethlehem Road as part of their Christmas tradition. On this road, you learn about the story of Jesus. Almost every scene features Scripture from the Bible that is large enough to been seen from your car. You will see parents there driving slowly and reading the scripture aloud to their children.
Once you get to the end of the story, you’ll find yourself at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church where there is a Nativity scene.
Ricky Phillips, the creator of this event, said, “It is just kind of a tradition and a way of letting people know about the birth of Christ. It is important to me that as long as I’m around, this gets done.” -source

First, you have to drive through their holiday light display!
“Holiday Trail of Lights begins the weekend of Thanksgiving at Bell Park and runs thru to the end of December. The trail is lined with THOUSANDS of brilliant LED lights on display and several events are scheduled at the Ed Wilkinson Pavilion at Bell Park throughout the month of December.” -source
After Greenwood’s drive-thru Christmas light display opens, you can enjoy their Christmas Parade in the early part of December. Greenwood puts on one of the largest Christmas Parades in the entire River Valley.
It’s not your average Christmas parade either.
Here’s where the magic happens… Right before the Christmas parade, Greenwood hosts it’s traditional “Bean Feed.”
“Prior to the parade, the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce hosts its traditional “Bean Feed” where we serve, free of charge, over 50 pounds of deliciously prepared ham and bean soup with homemade cornbread. The parade, brightly lit, travels down Main Street and has consisted of more than 80 entries. Santa is always on hand and ready to visit with children after the parade when he makes his infamous arrival on the Fire Truck!” -source
After Santa gets off his fire truck, children can sit on his knee and talk with him. Greenwood truly knows how to make magical moments.
