Over the weekend, we went on an adventure. We rented a camper and spent a long weekend at the Dam Site Campground in Heber Springs.
I grew up camping there but I haven’t been back in at least 20 years. Now, I don’t feel old enough to even make that statement but apparently I am!
Dam Site Park is located at Greers Ferry Dam at the foot of Round Mountain in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of north-central Arkansas. The environment provides the ideal location for family camping, fishing, boating and hiking. -source
Dam Site Campground Review
I love camping at the Dam Site because it’s beautiful and there are so many great places to explore. You will never get bored at this campground.
Best Campsites at the Dam Site
We camped in section “N”. This section is right across the street from the water and near the bath house.
However, no matter the section you choose, you can’t go wrong! Each section is beautiful and has it’s own perks.
This large campground offers 211 sites, 131 of which offer electric hookups, with 40 having water and electric hookups.
Additional amenities include flush and vault toilets, showers, a dump station, playground, marina, swimming area and a boat ramp. -source
Excellent Swimming Areas at the Dam Site
The Dam Site Swimming Areas are each different and spectacular for various reasons. You will definitely be able to find a great place to cool off or soak up the sun.
The Dam Site Picnic Areas are Fantastic
The biggest perk of the Dam Site is the island picnic area. We love to pack up the ice chest and head over there for a day of play and picnicking. Many of the picnic areas also have grills so you can bring your hamburgers and hot dogs!
There are also plenty of playgrounds nearby for your kids! …Oh, and restrooms. You’ll need those.
The Downside of the Dam Site
In my opinion, the only downside of the Dam Site Campground is that there are no sites with sewer hookups. We were extremely careful with our water usage and filled up our gray tank pretty fast.
Just keep this in mind if you plan on staying a while or if you have a big family like us!
Oh, I forgot another downside… Granddaddy Long Legs in Arkansas LOVE the Dam Site!
